A new perspective on Australian aircrew in the European air war during World War II
In WWII 17,000 Australian airmen flew with the RAF in 500 squadrons in Europe. The war in the air was one of the bloodiest and punishing campaigns of WWII and cost Australia 5000 lives. Because these men weren’t part of the Royal Australian Air Force, their stories are not widely known.
Flyers Far Away tells the stories of these brave men, from their involvement in delivering troops and supplies to their ill-fated attempt to seize the bridge at Arnham. Author Dr Michael Enright based this book on original interviews, so you can learn first hand about these courageous and daring men.
Contains over 40 photographs from the European air war.
